BIO

Born and raised in Naarm/Melbourne, Kendra is an accomplished contemporary fibre artist whose formative years were influenced by a creative family. Her initial foray into the arts began with studying and a career in fashion, where she gained essential insights into aesthetic design and textile craftsmanship.

Transitioning from fashion into the design industry, Kendra excelled as a studio manager, a role that expanded her competencies into graphic design and further refined her acumen in visual composition. This experience proved pivotal as it enriched her understanding of the dynamics between light and shadow - a recurring theme in her current artistic endeavours.

Her subsequent experience in styling further honed her ability to discern balance and harmonise elements within a visual context, skills that are evident in the sophisticated nature of her current work. Now residing in a country setting, Kendra draws inspiration from her surroundings which continuously influence her artistic narrative.

Kendra’s work is renowned for its seamless integration of two and three-dimensional elements, where organic and geometric forms blend to create intricate woven pieces and delicate threaded works in large scale reliefs. Her art challenges traditional boundaries and explores innovative techniques, consistently evolving in both form and depth. The strategic use of textures, lines and gilded leaf not only manipulates light and shadow but also serves to underline her deep admiration for both architectural and natural elements.

Kendra’s portfolio invites viewers to engage with a narrative of exploration and connection, highlighting her enduring commitment to creativity and her ongoing journey in the arts.
